Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to score a of 10 in an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi was an Romanian gymnastics instructor, who later became Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci when she was just six years old. Comaneci was the first to compete for time at the national junior championships, placing 13th. The following year she won the title of champion. In her 1972 first international competition that was a preolympics junior competition for nations in the Communist bloc, she was awarded three gold medals. In 1973 and 1975 she was named the all-around Junior Champion. When she competed for the first time in senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals aswell as one silver. She won the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first female to do a backward double salto as an unmounting from uneven parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager Carol Wayne started working in the entertainment field as a performer as figure skater. Along with her twin brother Nina Wayne she was part of a show that traveled called Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne is a American citizen who was born on September 6, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her career in the world of entertainment as a teen. She started her career performing figure skating along with Nina Wayne, her younger sister in one of the touring entertainment shows Ice Capades. These shows were ice skating events that included theatrical performances.
